Amini Concepts had the pleasure of collaborating with Westfield Chermside to concept a new shopping experience for their Autumn/Winter 2012 Style Lounge and we wanted to share the finished style lounge with all of you!

The Style Lounge is an interactive area where Westfield clients flow through at their leisure and interact with amazingly styled garments and products featured on the mannequins. The Style Lounge also provides a great opportunity to talk to the in-house Westfield Stylists and interact with a new social shopping experience via the Facebook stand.

The Facebook Stand allows you to take a photo on Facebook of you and your friends shopping at Westfield and this uploads to the Westfield Facebook page – how fab!

The space created is open and free moving. Mixed fusion of industrial shelving and furniture using the pop colour Tolix chairs, vibrant colours, quirky owls, clear chandelier pedestals were all elements used to set the Style Lounge mood. Mannequins perched upon illuminated pedestals allow the outfits to speak out and be featured. Tech elements included plasma screens to advise clients of upcoming events, and finally key expert styling tips written on blackboards suspended on the industrial units.It’s an easy browse through area to enjoy a new shopping experience – make sure you go and check it out!

1. Top 5 moments of the day?
Number 1 would have to be seeing Rich at the end of the aisle… I was completely overwhelmed with excitement! Other moments include spending the morning with my sister and my two best friends dancing around, drinking champagne and getting ready. When my mum arrived and helped me with my veil. When my mum’s partner arrived to drive us to the wedding wearing a chauffeur’s outfit – hilarious!! When my father-in-law Tony read out a prayer for us it was very moving and made me cry. And then the moment when Sherryl, our celebrant announced us man and wife… oops I think that is 6!

2. Any hot tips?
Stay true to what you want and create the best atmosphere for the two of you and your guests. Take time out throughout the day to soak in all the love around you and remember who is there sharing it with you. Don’t try and do it all yourself!

3. Do you have any advice for future Bride’s?
Don’t stress – it is honestly the best day of your life and the only thing that really matters is that you’re marrying the love of your life – who cares if something goes wrong!!

4. Any disasters?
No real big ones… we forgot to make a name tag for my sister-in-law and the wonderful Krystle and her team at Amini had to make one for me. Embarrassingly we didn’t realise it was a cash bar (no cards) at the end of the night and my brother, who was MC announced it to the guests to a few gasps. Oh dear. Other than that it was perfect!!

5. What was your inspiration behind your theme?
Vintage, eclectic with lots of bright colour. Both Rich and I love combining the old with the new – we’re really urbanites and wanted to reflect that in the venue that we chose hence Lightspace but we’re also softies at heart who long 50’s big band music and vintage furniture and clothing. Krystle really understood what we wanted to achieve and made it come to life!!! She’s amazing.

We sat down with Jade Callianiotis the owner of Wedding Bling – For all things stylish and asked her a few questions on her fabulous business…

1) What made you take the leap to start your own online wedding business?
I have always wanted my own business, but was never sure what exactly that would be and in what industry. However when it came to planning my own wedding, I became so passionate about finding beautiful and unique products to style my day with, that in this process I discovered a gap in the market for a store that sold these high quality products at a reasonable price.
I also had such great feedback about all of the extra details from my wedding from not only my guests but a lot of wedding professionals, that I believed I could really make a business out of this. After months establishing the business strategy; researching and sourcing products; and then developing the brand; Wedding Bling was launched.
Wedding Bling is now in its second year of trading and is a favoured destination for Stylish Brides who are after those “finishing touches” for their special day. I am so proud of what the business has achieved in this time and I am excited about where its heading.

2) Which are your favourite products that you have on the site at the moment?
Some of my Favourite products include:
Bling Napkin Rings – These can double as a gift for your female guests and they can wear theseon the night!
Butterfly Place Cards – Just new in – perfect for a pretty spring wedding.
Mezi Earrings – These are great for all glamorous events.
Veil by Kristi Bonnici – Very pretty – I was never a big veil person until Icame across this designer.
Party Signs Set of 5 – Theseare fun, stylish and will go with most wedding themes.
Crystal Perfume Bottles – An elegant gift for female guests, they also add elegance to the tables.
Shoe Clips – These are a great idea for transforming a simple pair of heels or flats andmake a great gift!

3) What are your best sellers?
Crystal Place Card Holder – Very elegant – use them to hold not onlyplace cards, but also table numbers, menus and small signs.
Crystal Base Signing Pen – Perfect for both ceremony and reception.
Inspirational Signs – Some customers use a range of theseinspirational words instead of table numbers.
Mini Mirrored Box – These look amazing on the tables and make a gorgeous giftwhether they are filled or on their own.
Mirrored White Wooden Letter – I get a lot of customersbuying “MR & MRS” at the moment.
HepburnPhoto Frame – By far the most popular frame we stock!
Crystal Hanging Garlands – A beautiful styling item – I love hanging decorations.

4) What makes Wedding Bling different from other online wedding stores?
I think the biggest difference is my product offering and that its very selective. In one way it’s great that we are so spoilt with choice when it comes to wedding styling, however it can become quite overwhelming if there are just too many products to choose from. I try to only source products that I believe are stylish and elegant and I also aim to ensure a lot of the products can be used and enjoyed after the wedding; so stocking products that are not necessarily “Bridal” or “wedding specific”.
When adding new things to the store I really take care and time when selecting products and brands. Wedding Bling’s core products lines are crystal and mirror inspired however I also stock other items to suit a morecasual wedding such as paper products. But I always ask myself “is this stylish and elegant?” and “would I have this at my own wedding?”.
Another vital element is that even though Wedding Bling is an online store, I still like to provide that boutique experience and high customer service.

5) Any stylish tips that you can give our Brides for the Spring/Summerwedding season?
Accessories: Keep jewellery to a minimum. I love a gorgeous pair of statement earrings on their own (apart from your rings of course). No”matchy-matchy” earrings/bracelet/necklace sets. And keep tiaras for the Hens nights…
Bonbonniere: I love double uses for things like this. A beautifully presented gift at each place setting can really enhance the table styling.
Reception tables: Make the bridal table extra special and really stand out. I love seeing over the top bridal tables. Depending on budget, look at having different chairs, special charger plates (even just for the Bride and Groom) and statement floral designs.
On a last note: If in doubt, go for the more simple and classic elements. If you can, enlist in a good stylist, they will pull everything together beautifully and make your dream wedding come to life!

Meet DAISY + JACK….

Daisy & Jacks founder Sophie, has been working as a Graphic & Production Designer in Australia for over 10 years now. She loves daisies, Sonny Terry & Brownie Mcghee, Johnny Cash and riding her bike in the afternoon sunshine. It never fails to amaze her how something as simple as an expertly designed invite can set the tone for a entire event  - we couldn’t agree more!
The good folk at Daisy & Jack are not about being ‘on trend’ or keeping up with the Jones’ – We are a little bit left of centre, a tiny bit quirky, and aim to create the kind of stationery that is kept safe in a shoebox atop your wardrobe somewhere long after last drinks are called. Why? Because it’s just too gosh darn pretty to throw away.

We had the opportunity to ask Sophie some question’s…. enjoy…

1) What made you take the leap and start Daisy and Jack?
I had spent almost 10 years art directing some of Australia’s leading monthly and weekly titles and just needed a change from the demands of sending 200+ pages to print on a weekly basis. It was just a side project at first, a little something that allowed me to indulge my love of stationery whilst working from home and setting my own hours (which in turn allowed me time to pursue my other passion – set dressing and production designing for film) word quickly got around about the invitations and with in 6 months it had turned into a full time job. I love every aspect of it, sourcing paper stocks, the one on one with all of my fabulously lovely clients and of course, designing and package each piece. We just celebrated our first birthday in December and business is positively booming!

2) If you could design an invitation for anyone in the world who would it be for and why?
Rita Hayworth and Glenn Ford – one of hollywoods longest running love affairs, they were married 4 times a piece (never to each other) but were together for over 40 years…. a bit of a strange choice I know but I just feel like they never really got their chance. I saw a photo of them riding a tandem bicycle on the universal lot one day and it inspired our “vintage bike” invitation.

3) Tell us what your favourite quote is and why?
It’s not really quote – well it is but it’s a long one in typical Steve Jobs fashion. I just find these words incredibly inspiring, if ever I am stuck I read them over to myself and it usually alights a fire in my mind!

“Here’s to the crazy ones,  the misfits,  the rebels,  the troublemakers,  the round pegs in the square holes… the ones who see things differently , they’re not fond of rules… You can quote them,  disagree with them,  glorify or vilify them,  but the only thing you can’t do is ignore them because they change things… , they push the human race forward,  and while some may see them as the crazy ones,  we see genius,  because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world,  are the ones who do”

4) What’s your go to cure for designers block? What inspires you the most?
Besides the words above, there is nothing a nice cup of green tea and a ride on my bike in the sunshine, breathing in the salty ocean air can’t fix.

5) Invitation’s can be tricky when you have no idea what you want, especially since there are so many designs out there to choose from. What advice would you give to a client on choosing an invitation design?
Pinterest is an amazing tool we recommend to all of our brides as it allows you to gather all of you visual inspiration in one place. We then ask our brides to do an edit, only keep the images they really would love for their big day and if, for example you are left with 20 images of lots of white linen table clothes, candlelight and yellow and white flowers then we would pitch an invitation with a soft charcoal and butter yellow theme, romantic typography printed on a white textured linen! It’s all about narrowing down specific likes and dislikes for the entire wedding and from there births the invitation ideas!

6) What’s one thing  you can’t live without?
My passport, bike basket, my boyfriend and friends but not specifically in that order. Oh and my niece Ruby and nephew Harry. Cutest humans roaming the mean streets if you ask me!

7) Where is your business based? Do you create invitations for clients Australia wide?
That’s a funny question. We started in sunny Cronulla on the southern beaches of Sydney but then the boyfriend and I decided to travel the world for a year so in the past 9 months Daisy & Jack has called Spain, France, Italy, Croatia, Turkey, Portugal, Chile, Bolivia, Peru and now Mexico (where I am writing this email from) home. my lap top is an extension of my hands these days and I happily design from the road and have an amazing crew back in Sydney tending to all of our printing, packaging and PR needs! All our clients have been totally happy with the arrangement which is fabulous! Sydney will be home again to Daisy & Jack before the year is up. We welcome clients from the world over and have designed invitations for brides-to-be from England, The United States and Australia!
